Annual Meeting 2013

Yesterday (Sunday, Feb. 17th) the 88th Annual Congregational Meeting of Pictou United Church was held.  During that meeting Jim Parker & Margaret Anne Dodson, on behalf of our Finance & Stewardship Committee, presented a “Narrative Budget”.  As they said “A Narrative Budget is a visual representation of our life together as a church family, which is intended to help us understand how the gifts we contribute are turned into valuable ministries. It shows how your donations work to foster the valuable learning opportunities, missions, and ministries within our congregation and for the wider community. This is the story of the ministry of Pictou United and how it affects our lives, the lives of our loved ones and the lives of the whole community both near and far.”  It was suggested thay this Narrative Budget be placed on our website so all can see and celebrate the ministry we share and how our financial gifts enable and support that ministry.

Please find below a PDF of the powerpoint presentation that was offered. It can also be found under the “bulletin” tab above.

Horn of Africa ~ EMERGENCY Response

The United Church of Canada is deeply concerned about the emergency situation now affecting several countries in the Horn of Africa—Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia, and the Karamoja region of Uganda. Our hearts go out to the millions of people affected by what our regional partners there say is the worst drought to hit the region in 60 years.

The United Church is immediately responding to this crisis with a commitment of $50,000 to the humanitarian relief work of ACT Alliance and partners such as the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) and the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), who work through their member churches to respond to the immediate needs of people affected.

In addition to this financial commitment, the church welcomes its members to join in prayer and support.

Please call the Church Office 485-8081 to make a donation or place it with your offering, marking it “Emergency Resonse”.
